In these days of perpetual bad news about the ecomony there is a tendency for organisations in the sector to reduce budgets for ICT equipment, software and support.

Whilst the primary focus of all organisations is the delivery of services to its end users, it is important that there is a stable infrastructure to support the workers.  Without this solid foundation the risk factors of ICT problems starts to escalate.

This does mean that efficiency savings should be looked at. for example:

• How much time is lost on faulty email systems
• How much spam is clogging your systems
• Can you survive if your server fails
• How much do you spend on printer cartridges for inkjet printers
• etc.

There are a range of solutions out there and your local ICT social enterprise or voluntary sector group can help you to develop an ICT strategy that will help to create menaingful and sustainable savings.
