Role of the ICT Champion
The ICT Champion will:
- Establish a focus for ICT development and support across the West Midlands for the VCS in general and VCS infrastructure consortia in particular
- Maintain an information base of VCS ICT providers within the West Midlands and fulfil an impartial signposting/brokerage function to enable the third sector to access support services such as Circuit Riders, training organisations, sources of funding, details of local Net:Gain centres and legacy ICT Hub publications, other resources and websites etc
- Promote and communicate the availability of support services across the West Midlands including the work and function of the ICT Champion using established methods such the website, blog or newsletter and through regional network meetings. Make available and distribute appropriate printed matter and publications to consortia at a sub-regional level
- Draw together examples of best practice in relation to ICT support and seek to develop and stimulate new provision to achieve effective coverage across the West Midlands. Identify areas of insufficient ICT provision and establish a plan to further develop ICT in the areas.
- Identifying available funding and providing ongoing support
- Work with the established networks of sub-regional contacts and obtain a clear picture of the ICT infrastructure activity taking place in each Infrastructure Consortia area. Ensure that ICT is given appropriate focus and priority in the various Infrastructure Consortia plans and strategies and provide support and technical guidance as necessary.
- Liaise with RAWM and the Regional Infrastructure Consortia (Destination West Midlands -DWM) to establish a regional picture of support and agree priorities for the work to be undertaken at a regional level
- Bring together the emerging ICT themes and priorities from sub-regional plans and work with the DWM to access additional resources and decide how best to support the sub regional plans move forward
- Co-ordinate a regional ICT network/forum to enable practitioners to access mutual support and learning
- Assist sub-regional consortia to plan a medium-term programme of ICT events/road shows and workshops to promote the importance of well resourced ICT
- Produce quarterly reports to NAVCA in line with their requirements providing updates on agreed objectives and deliverables
