Role of the ICT Champion

The ICT Champion will:

  • Establish a focus for ICT development and support across the West Midlands for the VCS in general and VCS infrastructure consortia in particular
  • Maintain  an  information  base  of  VCS  ICT  providers  within  the  West  Midlands  and  fulfil  an impartial signposting/brokerage function to enable the third sector to access support services such  as  Circuit  Riders,  training  organisations,  sources  of  funding,  details  of  local  Net:Gain centres and legacy ICT Hub publications, other resources and websites etc
  • Promote  and  communicate  the  availability  of  support  services  across  the  West  Midlands including  the  work  and  function  of  the  ICT  Champion  using  established  methods  such  the website,  blog  or  newsletter  and  through  regional  network  meetings.  Make  available  and distribute appropriate printed matter and publications to consortia at a sub-regional level
  • Draw together examples of best practice in relation to ICT support and seek to develop and stimulate new provision to achieve effective coverage across the West Midlands.  Identify areas of  insufficient  ICT  provision  and  establish  a  plan  to  further  develop  ICT  in  the  areas.
  • Identifying available funding and providing ongoing support
  • Work with the established networks of sub-regional contacts and obtain a clear picture of the ICT infrastructure activity taking place in each Infrastructure Consortia area.  Ensure that ICT is  given  appropriate  focus  and  priority  in  the  various  Infrastructure  Consortia  plans  and strategies and provide support and technical guidance as necessary.
  • Liaise  with RAWM and  the  Regional  Infrastructure  Consortia  (Destination  West  Midlands  -DWM)  to  establish  a  regional  picture  of  support  and  agree  priorities  for  the  work  to  be undertaken at a regional level
  • Bring together the emerging ICT themes and priorities from sub-regional plans and work with the DWM to  access  additional  resources  and  decide  how  best  to  support  the  sub  regional plans move forward
  • Co-ordinate  a  regional ICT network/forum to  enable  practitioners  to  access mutual support and learning
  • Assist  sub-regional  consortia  to  plan  a medium-term programme of ICT  events/road  shows and workshops to promote the importance of well resourced ICT
  • Produce quarterly reports to  NAVCA in  line with their requirements providing updates on agreed objectives and deliverables
