Internet & New Media Marketing
OK, So You've got a website!
That is not enough, you need to get people to find your website and you should make it easy for them to engage with your organisation/social enterprise on-line.
searchSearch Engine Optimisation
Get your site listed in the search engines. There is apparently a black art in getting your site noticed by Google et al, but, much of it is common sense.
- What key words would your clients use when searching the internet for your organisation (and your competitors) - These words should feature in the text of your site. Please don't use paragraphs that say " We are the best and we are the cheapest" No one seaches Google for "WE" use your organisations name.
- Page Titles: Meaningful titles for your pages and news stories that use key words will help the search engines find you and put you in the rankings
- Meta descriptions: a meta description is a short description you can add to a page - this is not the meta tags which have been so overspammed that most search engines ignore them. The Meta description is sometimes picked up by Google and used as the descriptor of your site.
- Social media: whenever you update a page, add a news item or add an event. Post it to your social media accounts e.g. your Facebook page, your Twitter account. - Again using an interesting headline will bring people to your site. When they reach your site allow them to engage by clicking adverts, emailing you for more information or buy you a glass of real ale.
