Have you heard the term social media or read about Facebook and Twitter but not known how they could apply to your work supporting and developing local organisations and volunteer groups?
Social media can be used to strengthen how organisations reach volunteers or to help them to campaign more effectively. This is something many local support providers and volunteering organisations are not realising; potentially missing out on how it can support development of volunteer led projects and groups.
Workshops aimed at Development Workers and Staff in Local Support Organisations and Volunteer Centres which will answer these questions; are being delivered by the ICT Champions and Red Foundation as part of the Capacitybuilders Modernising Volunteering and Regional ICT Champions work streams.
The workshops will help you understand how to find new ways of effective communication and conversation with local groups. They will also give you the skills and knowledge to share how to use social media tools so your groups can be more effective in meeting their aims too.
We are running workshops in all regions between May and November 2010 which in addition to explaining the types of social media available will enable you to place these tools into the context of your own organisation and through a practical social media surgery session give you the confidence to continue in their use.
Details will be released in "SKiLD bites" and on www.skild.org.uk shortly, however as demand is likely to be high, please register your interest now by emailing skild@navca.org.uk (reference NewComms). Places for this full day workshop will cost £35 per person.
