Fire Vox: OK stop talking now!
I published a short article that looked at adding speech to a website and one of the options suggested was to add the Fire Vox addin to your Mozilla FireFox browser.
Once installed it will repeat key strokes, tell you about the page you are on, any screen events, such as an item gaining focus and in short annoying people.
To reduce the annoyance factor you can change some of the options.
firevox
In FireFox go to tools and click on Firevox options.
I have very few areas clicked
These are, read by scentence, select current sentence, Highlight chunks.
The keyboard shortcuts to have firevox read your text use the CTRL Shift plus the keys strokes
To read the page press CTRL Shift A
Highlight a sentence or area of text and press CTRL Shift o
to stop FireVox CTRL Shift C
Of course these will only work if you have Mozzila Firefox installed as your browser and the Fire Vox add in installed.
