I want to share documents on Facebook

Sharing a document on Facebook

With over a third of the UK population using Facebook and the ability for Voluntary Sector Organisations to create Facebook pages. Then it would be good to be able to attach documents for download e.g. forms, guidance etc. and of course you can.

The steps are fairly straightforward.
1. Create a Page to support your Cause or campaign (you may need to create a Facebook account if you don't have one already)
2. Create an account at www.docs.com
3. load your document and share

To create a Page

Go to http://www.facebook.com on the opening screen
Near the bottom of the screen you will see the option to create a page
Click on Create a page and you will be able to name the page.

If the page you are building is for community use then type in the name for your community page. Facebook may give you a dire warning if it doesn't like your page name (it may just be that the name has already been used). So, find a name that is acceptable, you will then be asked to either create an account or sign into your own account.

Answer the questions to describe your page and profile, then check your privacy settings http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10117106 for guidelines.

You will now have a Facebook profile and a page.

Create an account at www.docs.com

Go to www.docs.com and follow the onscreen instructions to create an account.

docsdocs
The above image is the top bar of the docs website, note that on the right is the Facebook symbol and an opportunity to sign in or out of your Facebook profile.

Sign into Facebook, then click on "Add a Doc" (top bar centre)

We want to upload a document so click on upload and then browse your PC to Find the document you want to share on Facebook.

Under Owner, you should choose the Page you created as the owner (or the document will be posted to your profile)

Add any tags that will help people to find the document e.g. Grass Roots, funding, etc.

Choose who can view the document, and choose who can edit the document

Then upload your document.
The document will then be uploaded and added to the page for other people to download and view. click here to see a sample page
