Adwords express – great for community enterprises
Google has now launched an express version of its popular Adwords Pay Per Click programme. This new service is aimed at organisations and businesses that operate at a local level and want to take advantage of on-line advertising.
Did you know that 20% of searches are for something local.
Increasingly people search on-line as their first choice when they need to find something. You need to be available on-line to help. Even if you don't have a website yet, you can still use Adwords Express by creating a Google Places page.
It is easy to get started.
1. Sign up with Google Express
2. Choose a business category that identifies your business
3. Write an ad - just a few lines of text to describe your offer
4. Set your budget
What is Pay per Click (PPC) advertising?
When you sign up with Google, or any other PPC supplier the they display your ad to a group of people who may be interested.
They choose which ads to display by calculating, the relevance of your services to the users, the quality of your ad and the amount you have bid.
You don't pay when people view your advert, you only pay if someone clicks on your ad and visits your Page - either on your website or on Google Places.
Compare with newspaper ads
When you take an ad in a local paper, you have an idea of the number of people who will receive a copy of the paper. You don't know how many people see your advert. The cost of an ad is around £200 in a weekly paper. The cost of a click is around £1 depending on the key words you use to trigger your ad.
At the end of the week, your news paper ad and your budget is gone. Your PPC ad is still running until 200 people have clicked and visited your site.
