pound coinspound coinsThere can be little doubt that over the next few years funding will be increasingly difficult for many organisations to find. It is likely to be the medium sized organisations that will struggle most and there is pressure for many organisations to collaborate or merge.

Auto Twitter feed, Google Adsense were added to the WMICT Champions website in October to see if a website could become self financing.

twittertwitterIn November and December I regularly posted content onto the site and had a healthy number of visitors and as the Twitter feed directs people to the page they were interested in and the Google ADsense ads placed adds based on the content it also created a small click through revenue stream.

Beware of Trojans-AntivirusLive

A small voluntary sector organisation has been attacked by a nasty Virus. The virus, in the form of a Trojan (a piece of software pretending to be one thing whilst infecting your computer) The Trojan offers to remove spyware and viruses but once you click run your system is compromised.

There is a need for some ICT systems to help capture and report on the outcomes information. A small consortium in Warwickshire asked me as the ICT Champion to look at the options available to them and then create a shortlist of suppliers.

Online criminals are making millions of pounds by convincing computer users to download fake anti-virus software, internet security experts claim.

Symantec says more than 40 million people have fallen victim to the "scareware" scam in the past 12 months.

The download is usually harmful and criminals can sometimes use it to get the victim's credit card details.
